“Barakah” refers to the presence of divide blessings in an object and those blessings.
All the good comes from Allah and He alone decides who, what and when something or someone has Barakah.
Allah says (from the interpretation of the meaning of surah):
“Say (O Muhammad): ‘O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is (all) good. Indeed, You are able to do all things.’” [Ali Imran: 26]
And Allah also says elsewhere in the Qur’an (from the interpretation of the meaning):
“Say (O Muhammad): Indeed, (all) bounty is in the hand of Allah. He grants it to whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Wise.’” [Ali Imran: 73]
When we talk about Barakah, I believe every human wants a life filled with blessings.
This is due to something that Allah SWT given blessings to him although in certainly would be enough in terms of numbers, the numbers are small amounts or less.
Blessings of a Muslim life is depend on the extend of his sincerity to Allah SWT.
When a person intends to remain sincere and correct the intention in life, they will find blessings in whatever they do.
But through the favor that we have, the award is the culmination of Allah’s goodness to us.
Blessings that Allah SWT gave to us through worship enjoyment, pleasure moaning to Allah SWT, prostate pleasure to seek the forgiveness from Allah SWT is a form of blessings that make our hearts open and quiet on the way to meet with Allah the Creator.
“Whoever was constant in seeking forgiveness from Allah SWT, Allah SWT will make a release for him from every trouble and a way out for him from every oppression and He will sustain him from where he does not expect.” [Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah]
There are several examples of some things that are blessed with Barakah:
1. The Qur’an
The Qur’an is Mubarak (blessed); there is nothing in it but good. Allah says (from the interpretation of the meaning of surah):
“And this is a blessed Book (the Qur’an) which We have sent down, so follow it and fear Allah (i.e. do not disobey His Orders), that you may receive mercy (i.e. saved from the torment of Hell).” [Al-An’am: 155]
2. The Prophets and Messengers
All prophets and messengers were created by Allah with Barakah. In this regard, Allah mentions the example of Prophet Isa (peace be upon him), as Allah says (from the interpretation of the meaning of surah):
(Jesus) said, “Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive.” [Maryam: 30 – 31]
3. The Angels
Wherever there is a good, there are the angels will be. The Prophet Muhammad SAW said:
From the hadith narrated by Muslim and Abu Dawood: “No people gather in one of the houses of Allah (i.e. mosques), reciting the Book of Allah (the Qur’an) and studying it together, but tranquility descends upon them and mercy encompasses them, and the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them to those (angels) who are with Him.”
4. The Makkah, Madinah and Jerusalem
These three are the places on the earth that are holy, so it is not permissible to undertake any journey to other places with the objective of seeking Barakah. The Prophet SAW said:
From the hadith narrated by al-Bukhari: “Do not undertake a journey (for Barakah) except to one of three mosques: (1) Masjid al-Haram [in Makkah], (2) this mosque of mine [i.e. Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah] and (3) Masjid al-Aqsa [in Jerusalem].”
5. Various intervals of time
Such as Ramadhan, Lailatul Qadr, the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, Friday, the time immediately after Fajr prayer etc. A period of time is not blessed with Barakah of itself, it is blessed because Allah declares it blessed and makes it blessed.
6. Zamzam water
It is the best and noblest of all waters on earth. The Prophet SAW said:
“Verily, it (i.e. Zamzam water) is blessed, it is food that nourishes.” [Narrated by Muslim]
Then, the Prophet SAW also said:
“The water of Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for.” [Narrated by Ibn Majah]
Indeed, nothing is more meaningful in our life but the life that Allah SWT blessed to be forgiven in every mistake and the mistake that we did.
People who are clean of stains and faults can enjoy the sweetness of true faith.
Hopefully we are also given the barakah in life and always opens the hearts to realize personal fault and asking forgiveness from Allah SWT.
So, that is such of the value of a blessing for us as a human beings who expect goodness and mercy of Allah SWT.
Of course we are also wondering how to pick the blessings in our life? This is because we all certainly do not have the exact answer whether our life is blessed or not.
